Quiet month this month with only 14 products so lets get on
with it.
Skin:
* Garnier UltraLift Day Cream with SPF 15 – still my
everyday moisturiser, I went through this last one quite quickly so I’ve gone
back to decanting it into an airless pump bottle to stop myself from scooping
out way too much.
* Philosophy Time In A Bottle Daily Age-Defying serum,
sample – this really did nothing for me (the only ingredient of interest is
retinol which is way down the ingredient list) other than give me a sparkly
look thanks to the visibly obvious mica which I did not appreciate – night club
glitz is not what I’m looking for in my skincare. Will not purchase the full
size.
* Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Eye Cream, sample – I’ve tried the Avocado Eye cream from Kiehl’s in the past and found it too greasy for my undereye so I was hoping this would be a better fit but I wasn’t impressed. It felt very thin and ineffectual even though I know I’m not going to see any effects from such a tiny sample, it just didn’t feel substantial and I got the impression it dried on the skin rather than soaking in. I won’t be buying the full size.
* Rexona Motion Sense Shower Fresh Anti-Perspirant Deodorant – this works as well as any other, nothing mind blowing. Since running out I have just been using an aerosol deodorant and haven’t been missing this so I’m not sure if I’ll buy a stick deodorant any time soon.
* Sanctuary Spa Firming Youth Serum – this isn’t a serum, it’s a thin moisturiser which I picked up when I was in between serums and it was a total waste of money. It doesn’t do anything as a treatment serum or even as a thin moisturiser. Will not repurchase.
* Smartskin Scented Facial Wipes – this is the second one I’ve used up this year and I’m noticing that they just don’t seem to work as well as they used to. I’m not sure if the formula has changed but they seem drier and not as effective at removing makeup so after many repurchases, I won’t repurchasing these again.
* Banana Boat Aloe Vera Lip Balm, SPF 30+ - first one down for the year. These are still a definite repurchase especially since finding out that they aren’t being discontinued and that Kmart are their new stockist.
* June Jacobs Brightening Serum, sample – I found this while randomly looking through skincare brands at Sephora and helped myself to a sample as it contains 3 active ingredients that I had previously researched as effective for the treatment of melasma. I spot treated with this for 2 weeks, day and night, and saw a huge reduction in my melasma on my cheekbones. It’s pretty expensive but it works so I’ve since purchased the full sized product.
* Codage Serum No. 4 Anti Spots and Lightener, sample – this was recommended by Mecca staff try on my melasma which I used as a spot treatment for 2 weeks (prior to trying the June Jacobs by the way) and it did absolutely nothing. A truly eye-wateringly expensive French spa brand that I will not be buying the full size of.

* Not Your Mother’s Knotty To Nice Conditioning Detangler – I
really didn’t like this (read my review here) - it’s a thick heavy consistency
that I found very difficult to spray and disperse through my hair evenly plus
the nozzle sprayed in random directions leaving my bathroom coated with more
product than my hair. Big thumbs down and no repurchase here.
* Tresemme Cleansing Dry Shampoo – I preferred this to the
Volumising version, it worked very well and any white reside brushed out easily.
The scent was OK – an apple citrus type scent. It doesn’t beat Batiste but I
would definitely repurchase.
* Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder Translucent – I used this
to set the foundation and concealer on the perimeter of my face during summer with
a very light hand as it had a tendency to get cakey if I used too much. I’m
currently on the hunt for another pressed translucent powder which won’t cake
(hopefully something like the NARS crystal translucent powder??) but I don’t
really need one right now going into winter and probably wouldn’t repurchase this
one anyway.
* By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder, deluxe sample 1.3g – I got this in a Mecca Beauty Loop Box and I love it for setting my undereye concealer and anywhere else I want my skin to look like skin again when putting on makeup. I’ve already repurchased the full size product and have decanted some into this container for ease of use.
* Essence Nail Art Express Dry Drops – I’ve tried a few brands and this one works the best to help set my nail polish. It’s pretty popular so it’s always out of stock but a definite repurchase.

I’m expecting the skincare empties to really ease off now as
I’ve started quite a few full sized products that will take me months to get
through but I’m still diligently working my way through a few targeted makeup
products so I’m hoping they’ll show up in an empties sooner rather than later.
